Vmware consolidating disks
I am using the thick client to consolidate the disk because I can not find a way to do it in the web client. This e-book gives you an insight into the ransomware threat and reviews the fundamentals of top-notch ransomware preparedness and recovery.
The snapshot is 3tb and there is 3.6tb free on the datastore. To help you protect yourself and your organization.
Right click the VM, select Snapshot and select the new option “Consolidate”. A great new option that probably can save quite some work for v Sphere admins.
Speed or merge will depend on how fast the datastore technology is. have a read of my EE Article HOW TO: VMware Snapshots :- Be Patient Okay, I chose "delete all" and it took around 45 minutes to finish. The snapshot Consolidation command searches for hierarchies or delta disks to combine without violating data dependency. After consolidation, redundant disks are removed, which improves virtual machine performance and saves storage space. This might happen, for example, if you delete a snapshot but its associated disk does not commit back to the base disk. a 3TB snapshot will take, seconds, minutes, hours, days or weeks to merge, but it will finish and complete, it may stick at 90%, 95%, 99% Do not cancel, or mess, restart Host OS, VM...wait.I arrived at work today and noticed 2 VM’s had a warning indicating “Virtual Machine Disk Consolidation is needed”.
